Create 1^st Birthday Invitations Worthy of a Keepsake

Possibly one of the most important birthdays to a parent is their child’s first.  It gives them the opportunity to share a special day with friends and family.  Selecting the 1^st birthday invitations can be quite a task, but it doesn’t have to be if you consider what is right for your child.  It should mark the significance of the day and highlight the birthday boy or girl.

Photo Cards

A photo card is a wonderful way to invite guests to the party.  You can put a current photo of the child on the card.  Choose a photo that shows the child’s personality.  Dress them up, make a special scene for the photo or just capture them playing and laughing.  Guests will appreciate the sentiment and save the invitation as a keepsake.

Highlight the generations by creating a photo collage that includes great-grandparents down to the child.  This creates a great family keepsake.  If you can find photos of grandparents and parents at their 1^st birthday party, create a collage of those.  This makes a great invitation and provides guests with a wonderful pictorial history of the family.

Creative and Fun

To truly personalize the 1^st birthday invitations, place your child’s handprints on the card.  Use finger paints or water-based craft paint in a vibrant color.  Put both handprints on the card, each with a different color.  What a great way to show the child’s involvement in their birthday!

Make the invitations fun.  Enclose confetti or a photo of the child.  Send pop-up or animal-themed invitations that are worded as if from the child.  For example, you might say, “I’m turning this many” and show a small hand with the index finger indicating one.  You could say something like, “My mommy and daddy want you to help me celebrate my birthday”.
